LYNN – With Question 2 calling for charter school expansion figuring prominently on Tuesday’s ballot, Carlos Pichardo of Peabody stood outside of KIPP Academy atop the Highlands to show support for charter schools.
“I think it’s a great idea, especially kids from low income families” said Picherdo, who has family members attending the academy. When asked about the criticisms against Question 2, Pichardo said, “I believe it’s something that’s overblown, you know?”
Election Warden Thelma Riley said turnout for the November election has been much higher at KIPP than during the September primary election. KIPP students over the age of 18 were able to experience democracy first hand by registering to vote at KIPP.
