MARBLEHEAD — Following its successful “relaunch” in November, Saturday Night in Marblehead will present Sally Rogers and Howie Bursen at the Church of St. Andrew, 135 Lafayette St.
Rogers has toured at least two continents and any number of countries singing and writing songs that touch the heart and the mind, accompanied by guitar and dulcimer. Also a music educator, she has released 15 recordings, not including collaborative albums with other artists. Bursen is a clawhammer banjo legend. Together, he and Sally create harmonies and a rich instrumental sound.
Saturday Night in Marblehead ran for 22 years as a weekly concert series from the mid-1970s to the 1990s. Renowned singer-songwriter Bob Franke was artistic director for the first 10 years and is helping to start the concert series again, this time monthly. It was the first or among the first concert venues in New England to introduce to the Boston area some of the classic voices of North American folk music and songwriting in a concert setting: Patty Larkin, Suzanne Vega, Joe Val and the New England Bluegrass Boys, Cindy Kallet, the late Canadian folk icon Stan Rogers and many others.
The concert begins at 8 p.m.; doors open at 7:30. Tickets, available at the door, are $15.
