NAHANT — Forty Steps Dance will bring its unique animal magnetism to LynnArts Black Box Theatre at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, with an interactive Creative Dance Workshop.
The workshop is for youth, age 8 and older, and adults. Participants will experience dance through the movement of “Creatures” as depicted in the Forty Steps Dance masterwork and will work with dancers from the program. The 90-minute workshop is followed by a viewing of the “Creatures” video.
The modern dance company debuted a section of the “Creatures” work in 2013 to a capacity audience and performed “Creatures” in its entirety at Nahant Town Hall in 2014 and filmed it at LynnArts in 2015.
A red carpet gala featuring the “Creatures” video premiere was held in town this fall. The “Creatures” video was made through the support of videographer/editor Daniel Jacobs, Lynn Museum and LynnArts Black Box Theater, and all of Forty Steps Dance volunteers, friends and supporters.
Now in its 24th season, Forty Steps Dance continues to be recognized as a premier modern dance company and cultural arts organization. This workshop is funded in part by the Lynn Cultural Council.
To register for the workshop, email your name, contact information and age to firstname.lastname@example.org or go to www.fortystepsdance.org.
Advance registration is recommended, as space is limited. Registration at the door is on a space-available basis. Suggested donation (optional) is $10 per person or $20 per family.
Forty Steps Dance is in residence at Dance Dimensions on Valley Road. The troupe’s mission is to increase the visibility of dance, especially on the North Shore. It is comprised of 13 dancers from throughout New England.
