ATLANTA — Acoustic Neuroma Association (ANA), a nonprofit patient organization dedicated to the education and support of acoustic neuroma patients, family members and caregivers, has appointed Neil Donnenfeld to its board of directors.
He is the president of Products Ahead LLC, an ophthalmic product and business consulting firm in Swampscott.
“Donnenfeld brings a wealth of experience to Acoustic Neuroma Association and will play a key role as ANA continues to grow and expand its vision as a vital resource for the acoustic neuroma community,” said Allison Feldman, ANA chief executive officer. “His expertise in how boards function, relationships within the medical community, clinical best practices and standards of care will be a tremendous asset to ANA.”
Donnenfeld received his B.A. in Psychology and Religion from Dartmouth College in 1983 and his MBA in Finance and Marketing from the Wharton School in 1988.
He serves as treasurer of the Jewish Community Center. Previous board appointments include Holocaust Center Boston North, Jewish Family Service and Nature Conservancy of Weston, Conn.
“Following my acoustic neuroma treatment, my most significant difficulty has been left ear deafness and hyperacusis,” Donnenfeld said. “This has been a life-changing experience. The local ANA support group was very helpful. Much has been done for acoustic neuroma patients; however, there is much more that needs to be done. I want to advocate for them especially in the realm of their post-surgery or radiation care.”
An acoustic neuroma is a benign tumor on the hearing and balance nerve in the inner ear often causing hearing loss and balance issues.
Located in metro Atlanta, Acoustic Neuroma Association is a non-profit organization founded by a patient in 1981 representing 5,000 acoustic neuroma patients, caregivers, family members and medical professionals worldwide and providing information regarding all treatment types.
